We're Getting Out and About

I am finally starting to feel more comfortable taking Charlie out and about.  Before, I was nervous because he was so small and didn't have his shots.  I am also not a fan of nursing in public (even though I have the shawl) so I had to figure out when I could go somewhere and then make sure I got back in time to feed him before he'd freak out.  I was starting to get really stir crazy so after attending a few Mommy and Baby groups and seeing how the other moms work I decided to just go for it.  I nursed at my Mommy group today for the first time (I was fully covered)!  I feel like Charlie sleeps so much better at night if he is out enjoying the sights instead of just staying home and playing inside our house with just me.  I am also figuring out going out to eat without Charlie crying in the restaurant.  I would get so anxious before going out but now I know that Charlie is such a good baby that the chances of him crying are small to begin with!  I'm a lucky mom to have such a mellow baby!

We went to our first Mommy and Baby yoga class last week.  Charlie slept the whole time but it felt really good to get out and be with other moms and also get some exercise too.  We were planning on going again this week but the instructor was out sick...We'll just have to try again next week

Auntie Bridget joined Charlie and me for an outing last Friday.  I had been given a gift certificate for hand and foot prints done in clay so to celebrate Charlie's 2 month birthday we got his prints done.  He was such a trooper considering how I had to contort his little body so he didn't mess up the clay.  I get the finished product in a few weeks and I can't wait.  A few of the other customers at the store even watched him get his prints done because he is just that cute!

I love the quiet times Charlie and I share at home but now that I know what to do when we go out I feel so much better and definitely more relaxed.  I still try to keep him away from big groups and lots of other kids - mainly toddlers- because he is still young.

I am so in love with this little guy.  Charlie brings so much joy to me and Tony too.  We are truly blessed and couldn't be happier!

A Wonderful Weekend Full of Visitors!

Matt and Allison Bradley joined us in sunny Redwood City for the weekend!  They flew in from Portland on Friday night and left on Sunday evening.  Tony and I were overjoyed to introduce our best friends to our new addition.  We spent the weekend BBQing pizza, walking around the Stanford Campus, eating really great steaks, and enjoying some adult beverages.  The weekend ended with a nice visit from Devan and Maria who happened to be in town too.  It was great to see so many of our Portland friends in our neck of the woods!

We don't have any visitors scheduled to come visit for another month so it looks like we have some time to recover a bit!  We've pretty much had back to back visitors for a month now and have honestly enjoyed every minute of it.  We love Charlie so much and love that our friends and family want to come from all over to meet him!

The Willcox Trio - let the blogging begin!

Since a lot of our friends and family don't live in the area (or even if you do), I thought this blog would be a good way to keep everyone informed and "involved" in Charlie's life.  As you know, Charlie is the greatest thing that has happened  to Tony and me and we love to talk about him!

Charlie has had a lot of visitors since he came into the world on December 18th.  So far, Charlie has met The Fogeds, Uncle Mark, Auntie Meghan, and Nonnie.  This weekend he gets to meet his Great Uncle Dennis, Matt, Allison, Devan, and Maria.  He is a popular guy!  Tony and I love to show him off because we think he is just the cutest little guy ever!

Charlie and I went to a Blanket Babies group this morning.  Blanket Babies is a Mommy group every Thursday at a crepe restaurant that is for babies who are immobile.  Charlie was the youngest baby there (but only by 4 days).  It's a good way for moms to network, share experiences, ask/give advice, and enjoy crepes and a cup of coffee.  The best thing about this group is that everyone is in the same boat.  Some babies cry, some moms nurse, etc.  No one thinks a thing of it.  I was a little nervous to bring him out around people since he's so little but I faced my fear and brought Charlie out.  So far, so good!

I'll keep you posted on what the Willcox Trio is up to!  Thanks for reading and be sure to check back often!
